Can I work from up here?

We do. Rustic though the setting is, we get a DSL line for the summer and telecommute part of the time. However, if you need to work in the city, there are commuter buses and train lines from there. Or you can drive (it takes about one and a half hours). Some bungalow residents carpool in.

A car isn't absolutely necessary, but it is much easier if you have (or rent) one. The car-less can commute by bus from Port Authority to the town of Monroe (half price tickets are available, making it about $15 round trip). Then it's a $7 cab ride from downtown Monroe to the colony itself.
